A BRANSON STORY

Randy Plummer's story in Branson began in 1971, when he came to town with his parents, Darrell and Rosie, and his sister Melody.

Two years later, on May 26, 1973, the Plummer Family Country Music Show opened on Highway 76, bringing the family's country, bluegrass and gospel music to Branson audiences.

For the next 18 years, the Plummers became part of Branson's growing live-entertainment story. When the family show closed in 1990, Randy chose to remain in Branson — continuing a life built around music, performance and, eventually, storytelling.

FROM RANDY TO PLUM PUDDIN'

Years before Snowdeer ever appeared on the page, pieces of Randy's own life were already waiting to become part of the story.

In July 1975, a photograph was taken of a young Randy sitting at Table Rock Lake. Decades later, Randy returned to that photograph when developing the character of Plum Puddin'.

Artist Ben Lokovich used the 1975 photograph as a reference for Plum Puddin' — creating a character whose connection to Randy went deeper than a name or a story. A piece of Randy's younger self had found its way into the world of Snowdeer.

THE PLACES BEHIND THE STORY

The places in Snowdeer's world aren't simply names on a page. Many are tied directly to the Missouri places Randy knew growing up.

Knob Lick, Missouri is Randy's hometown, and he grew up in the surrounding countryside. Possum Holler became the home of Plum Puddin' and Purple Mouse in the stories — in the very area where Randy says he actually lived.

Not far away, the real community of Doe Run, Missouri became Snowdeer's home in the stories.

Randy didn't have to invent an entirely new world for Snowdeer. He began with a world he already knew — the roads, communities and memories of home — and let imagination take it from there.

A CHRISTMAS WISH

In the woods of Doe Run lives Snowdeer, a seven-year-old white buck with an extraordinary Christmas wish: to pull Santa's sleigh on Christmas Eve and help deliver gifts to all the children and animals in the world.

Snowdeer shares his wish with his mother, Deerlores, and his father, Jim-Buck. Jim-Buck suggests that Snowdeer write a Christmas Wish Letter to Santa — and that letter soon finds its way into the hands of his friend Plum Puddin'.

Plum sets off for the North Pole to deliver it personally. With a little help from Santa's Magical Sugar Snow, Snowdeer's seemingly impossible wish begins to come true.

What begins as one young buck's Christmas wish becomes the starting point for the world of Snowdeer — and for the friendships and adventures still to come.

A FAMILY WRITTEN INTO THE STORY

The world of Snowdeer is rooted not only in places Randy Plummer knew, but also in the people closest to him.

Randy brought members of his own family into the stories as some of Snowdeer's most important characters. His parents, Darrell and Rosie Plummer, became Daddy Darrell and Mama Rose Marie — Plum Puddin's father and mother.

His uncle Jim Plummer became Jim-Buck, Snowdeer's father, while his aunt Delores Plummer became Deerlores, Snowdeer's mother.

Even another generation became part of the world: Randy's grandparents Lester and Evelyn Plummer inspired Grandpa Whitetail and Mommom Whitetail.

In Snowdeer, Randy wasn't simply creating characters. He was preserving pieces of his own family — giving familiar names, faces and relationships a new life inside the stories.

THE WORLD OF SNOWDEER

What began with Snowdeer and Plum Puddin' grew into a world filled with friends, family and unforgettable characters — many with homes firmly planted in the Ozarks.

At Possum Holler, Plum shares his cabin with his faithful dog Pinecone, while Purple Mouse and his parents, Maroon and Orchid, make their home upstairs. Nearby lives Terrie Young Deer, one of Plum's friends, while Carrot the Rabbit calls the country community of Garber home.

Beyond them are friends like Reynolds the Bear who lives at Bear Mountain near Branson, wagon-driving Todd Lott and his horse Glister — and a growing cast whose adventures stretch from the hills around Branson all the way to the North Pole.

There, Snowdeer's world expands again with Santa, mischievous Harvey the Elf, musical friends Josh, Amber, Lilly and Ilsa Elf and their family, and even Branson the Balladeer.

Together, they turn Snowdeer from the story of one little white buck into an entire world built around friendship, adventure, imagination and home.

THE HEART BEHIND THE STORIES

MORE THAN A CHRISTMAS STORY

Snowdeer's adventures may be filled with Christmas magic, talking animals, the North Pole and the imagination of the Ozarks, but at their heart, the stories have always been about something more.

Again and again, Snowdeer, Plum Puddin' and their friends discover the importance of friendship, kindness, courage and helping one another. Their journeys may carry them far from Doe Run and Possum Holler, but the people beside them — and the places they call home — are what matter most.

The stories celebrate giving of yourself for others, finding hope when the way forward seems uncertain, and discovering that even when you're far from home, the people you love can make you feel as though you never really left.

Those simple ideas became part of the lasting message of Snowdeer: believe, cherish friendship, have courage, choose kindness, hold on to hope, and remember where home is.
